Hi, it’s Misana, a second-year graduate student at the Deguchi lab.
We had a wonderful guest from Chile these past few weeks. Dr. Christina Bertocchi, a Professor (Special Appointment) in the Deguchi lab, visited us from June 14th to June 29th.
During her stay, she gave a series of lectures titled Mechanics of Life and Disease as a Professor (Special Appointment) of Grad. Sch. Of Engineering Science. These lectures were outstanding and conducted in a non-traditional way; they helped me gain a much clearer understanding of the mechanisms of life, from the basics to more advanced concepts.
In addition, Cristina generously took the time to engage in dedicated academic discussions with Deguchi lab members one by one. The time she spent discussing our research was worthwhile and inspiring.
Thank you, Cristina, for all you did and for your warm engagement with us.
We also had the chance to go on a few short trips together—we visited Expo 2025 and the Arima hot springs over the weekend, and we held a Takoyaki party on her last day here. (Also, thank you to Natsuki-san, one of the alumni of Deguchi lab, for joining us on the short trip to Expo!)
Overall, I would like to say thank you again. Please take good care of yourself, and we hope to see you again
