Hi everyone, this is Rosario and Intan, Ph.D. students at Deguchi lab. Together, we happily attended the 12th Bio-SPM Summer School of 2024 from August 5th to 10th.

The summer school was held at Kanazawa University and organized by NanoLSI. In that opportunity, we learn about the most recent technologies Bio-SPM offers. Including 3D-AFM, high-speed AFM, and SICM AFM! All incredible technologies allow measurements that a conventional AFM cannot perform. The newest version of the AFM machine, which eases our work, also amazed us!!

The event had 29 participants, including students and researchers from all over the world! We were able to perform a cell experiment and try the technologies ourselves. And, on the last day, we presented and discussed our findings with all the participants. It definitely opened our eyes to new research possibilities and world research trends.

We want to make a special remark on the beautiful scenery of Kanazawa University and the city. Even though we thought that the surroundings of the Kansai area were green, the mountains throughout the university were the most leafy mountains we have ever seen. Due to our bad luck (or good luck?), we lost the bus midway towards the university, forcing us to walk through the mountains, revealing a spectacular scene of trees, leafy mountains, and birds difficult to forget. We highly recommend visiting Kanazawa if you have the chance!!!
