(ご覧いただきありがとうございます。M2 松元です。今回は新たな試みで、英語で書かせていただきました笑)
Greetings.
Thank you for reading.
I’m Eiji Matsumoto, an M2 student.
The 6th Japan-Switzerland Workshop on Biomechanics (JSB2023) was held in Otaru, Hokkaido(北海道・小樽), from Aug. 28 to Sep. 1, and I joined it with Prof. Deguchi and Pirawan. This was the first time since 2017 that the event took place, with a break in between due to the global pandemic. Around 80 participants attended, with 20 from Switzerland and 60 from Japan, all focused on biomechanics.
On the first day, Shinji had an oral presentation as one of the invited speakers, kicking off the event. Pirawan and I attended his presentation, which served as an excellent example for us in considering how to present our work on an international stage.
Both Pirawan and I had short oral presentations for 3 minutes and presented posters on the second day, where we engaged in fruitful discussions with fellow participants.
My thoughts after finishing them are that it’s difficult for me to introduce the essence and interesting points of our study correctly and easily for many participants, who study different targets and approaches. But, I did my best and enjoyed the experience. It made me realize the importance of improving my public speaking skills for international events. I continue to learn and try so hard to acquire it.
During the banquet, we were treated to a fantastic Yosakoi performance by a club from Hokkaido University, and it was enjoyed by everyone.
The workshop had an excursion, so we explored several places during that time.

The next workshop (i.e., the 7th Japan-Switzerland Workshop on Biomechanics) is planned to be held in Riederlp, Switzerland, so I look forward to participating in the next workshop.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone, who are the committees, participants from Switzerland and Japan, the hotel staff, Prof. Deguchi, and so on.

Our time in Otaru was thoroughly enjoyable.
